Ib Spang Olsen I

Ib Spang Olsen (1921-2012) was a Danish writer and illustrator. My friend Lizzy lent me this book of the Old Mother Hubbard and her dog from 1974, found in a charity shop, using pen and ink with watercolour washes.Again looking at picture books of this era, they were often much more complex in image and language and word content than the picture book form that we have at this point. Ib's images are often very detailed and have a scratchy eery quality.
