Javier Zabala

There is a sadness and power to the gathered thoughts and visualisations of 25 years. This potent gift is on offer as a crowd funding project by Spanish artist and children's illustrator Javier Zabala.

I believe that where one can truly appreciate the essence of an artist is in his sketches, in his travel notebooks, even in his discardings, in his changes of opinion, in all that which is often hidden. We do all this work sometimes with a professional purpose, but many others just for the pleasure and the need to draw, also to grow. It is surely in these sketches, made without pressures or deadlines, with entire freedom, where you can see what we have not been, but also what we will be. Javier Zabala
