I have just found the work of Ben Shahn (1898-1969). I love his graphic style, he made beautiful line drawings like the bird pictures above but he also produced many illuminated manuscripts. (images).

He's one of my favorites. His line quality is really nice in his paintings too. I have the book, "Common Man: Mythic Vision (Paintings of Ben Shahn) that I bought years ago. It's a really nice collection... Love your blog btw... :)
