When I first saw the farmer 'who grows robots', on Paul Merton's programme about China, I fell in love, they are wonderful. All of Wu Yulu's robots are named after him and he calls them his children. He started making robots from scraps of machinery, and he now seems able to make robots of all sizes and designs with the capasity to do any task imaginable.
They are beautiful art objects, they are amazing technology and yet all the reports you find about this genius Wu Yulu are that he is desperate and starving with a forever grumbling wife, why has his talent not been seized upon?
