'Vathek' by William Beckford, (1760-1844), translated by Herbert B Grimsditch and illustrated by Edward Bawden (1903-1989), published 1958 by the Folio Society. The colours shone out of this book as being of another time, especially the cover. The layers of lithographic print make it shine out as an example of Bawden's work.
