'Fly Flies' written by Ziggy Hanaor and illustrated by Alice Bowsher, published by Cicada Books 2019 is wonderful in so many ways.
It is very funny, always a good quality for a book to have, as the poor fly, in trying to improve his flight techniques gets lots of unsolicited advice.
The lines of flight work like old handwriting guides and I can see a small child having lots of fun following the lines.
I also love the positive treatment of a 'fly', and the introduction of the different birds and their flying techniques. In the end, a butterfly arrives and the fly so cross with all the unwelcome advice crossly dismisses it but the butterfly is just being friendly and wants someone to fly with. Alice Bowsher's bold, graphic illustrations are wonderful.
