Hazel Terry, British Wildlife I: Badger

Oddly I find myself doing a series that I have called 'Black Work' after black work embroidery, but really so called because it is a result of  dark thoughts and frustration.
This is the second piece, still to be completed hopefully tonight.
It is another crying creature this time a badger. Currently in this country one of the national wildlife treasures is being 'culled' to try to fight bovine TB.
It has already been proven that inoculating the cattle against TB would be far more effective and these shy creatures populations were already compromised by heinous badger baiters, as well as all of the usual problems the wildlife faces of lack of habitat, roads ect.

  2. Oh! Not the badgers! That's terrible! Can't help but this of Merivel from Rose Tremain's "Restoration" and his badger coats. The drawing is fantastic but I'm sorry for the bleakness behind it. Perhaps you should call it "Bleak work".

  3. That is heartbreaking, the picture illustrates the pathos and your mood so well.
