John Burningham IV

John Burningham's 'Simp' published in 1999, is about a little black dog that is abandoned and finds a friend in a clown who's job is threatened, brave Simp saves the clowns act by being a cannonball dog.
I love the bold expressive illustrations of this work it reminds me of Borka, one of my favourite John Burningham (1936-2019) works.

Ohgiya Midori 扇谷みどり

Ohgiya Midori is an illustrator based in Tokyo, who delights in the textures, translucence and patterns, this means that her attention is often drawn to knitted clothing, and the busyness of pattern is often accompanied by images of movement.

Seno Kaori III

Seno Kaori's anthropomorphised food illustrations are just the best, especially when they involve a stretch!

The bold bright work of Zac Fay, a Melbourne based illustrator, I only wish the mountains that the sun's rays are touching had woken up, but I love the idea.

Sanae Sugimoto II

I was reminded of Sanae Sugimoto's delicate work this week and so revisited her portfolio of Japanese pen drawings, to find a theme of fire leapers and dancers. Sanae works in the classic colour combination of black, red and white and it feels good to let the eye travel across her beautifully crafted drawings.
