Today it is Brian Wildsmith's 85th Birthday and I wanted to compose a post to celebrate this British illustrator and his rainbow vision.
'Our children are our inheritance and our immortality. A child’s soul is like an empty book in which anything may be written. We must write about love, humour, compassion, truth, understanding and justice. In every one of my books I try and get something about that.' Brian Wildsmith
All of the images in this post are from Birds by Brian Wildsmith, Oxford University Press, London, 1967.
Joyeux anniversaire M. Brian Wildsmith !
ReplyDeleteQuel travail enchanteur et poétique...
I love his work and own a couple of his early books.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quote by him... as lovely as his wonderful illustrations!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore Brian Wildsmith's work and find such inspiration in it. I used his book, Birds, as the foundation of an art project that I did with my after-school art class and was thrilled with the results. I shared the tutorial on The Crafty Crow and linked up your posts on Brian Wildsmith as references :)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AN ARTIST WHOSE ARTWORK IN CHILDREN'S BOOKS AND POSTERS IS STILL UNRIVALED. I have the poster for the month of March...and treasure it, although it needs replacing soon as I look towards being 80 years old.
