Paintings in the sand

It has been a busy weekend and is set to be an immensely busy month, but I wanted to get out into the sun and open spaces and I stole away twice to blue skies and beaches yesterday. This was the sand and coal sand of Pettycure Bay near Kinghorn, Fife yesterday morning. The water was flowing over it as the tide withdrew, pulling at patterns, stretching, layering and distorting them, very beautiful.

Gary Bunt I

There is time, space, humor and love in Gary Bunt's paintings and that is what I wish we all had a little more of.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend.

The simple delight that Tomomi Irago's illustration work gives me is also present in her beautiful small carved figures.

Playing with owls.

I have been playing with owls these are drawn using layers of white wax crayon and pencil. I like the way each one has such an individual character.

Yuko Kayumi I

Very pleased to introduce you to the work of Yuko Kayumi who's work I stumbled upon this morning while trying to find the origins of something else. Yuko Kayumi is originally from Koka-shi, Shiga, Japan but now lives and works in Spain. Yuko travels extensively and her work is inspired by the people and wildlife she sees.

Matti Pikkujämsä I

Today I am featuring the work of Matti Pikkujämsä a Finnish illustrator who's work is wonderful and if I am honest has such classic design that I thought it was vintage 20th Century until I researched further. This year he was awarded the Rudolf Koivu Prize.
