David Jones I

The Cricket Match, Sidmouth 1937

I had a postcard of Davids Jones's (1895-1974) work when I was a student and so it was with great fondness that I remembered him when I came across his work again today. His pencil and watercolour works are exquisitely detailed and yet fleeting like dreams or fading memories as they are so transparent.

Michelle Morin

Michelle Morin is an artist and landscape gardener from New Hampshire whose observations of nature have lead her to focus on nature as a subject.
"I work to convey the beauty and complexities of nature using texture, pattern, and narrative elements throughout my work, which range from elaborate watercolor and gouache compositions on paper to vast and more layered paintings on canvas. Through my travels I continue to seek out inspiration from the natural world while honing in on the unique details that define each place." Michelle Morin

Patricia Metola I

I have been diving into the sketchbooks and portfolio of Patricia Metola, this illustration is an old favorite. I love the crocodiles pleasure in the balloon and the shared silence in the piece.

Thornton Walker I

Watercolour paintings by New Zealand artist Thornton Walker. Thornton's work is very diverse in style medium and subject. These watercolours from 2007 are from a year when he worked repeatedly from fruit and these particular still life objects producing paintings that have a strong Japanese influence their composition. (thank you)

Cate Edwards III

My third post on Cate Edwards. I love the simple composition of this watercolour and its underlying circular abstract design.
