Matti Pikkujämsä I

Matti Pikkujamsa's illustrations for 'Hipinäaasi apinahiisi' written by poet Ville Hytönen (Hipinäaasi apinahiisi, Tammi 2013) is a tale of two lonely and socially excluded characters who find each other and find friendship and happiness. Matti's illustrations are some of my favourites with a wonderful painterly style combined with superb visual layout and design.

Matti Pikkujämsä III

Finnish illustrator Matti Pikkujämsä has no website I have scrabbled around the web trying to find images of his work which I think is very special, I wish his books were published in English but then they would probably be altered beyond the text and I just love them their fun, colours and composition. These images are from the book Сокровища лесных эльфов by Реетта Ниемеля

Matti Pikkujämsä I

Today I am featuring the work of Matti Pikkujämsä a Finnish illustrator who's work is wonderful and if I am honest has such classic design that I thought it was vintage 20th Century until I researched further. This year he was awarded the Rudolf Koivu Prize.
