Clock Watching

It is that time . . .
When all around the world we are watching our clocks for the same time, but different times. So whenever your clock rings in the New Year, with bells, ticks, chines or cuckoo's, I am wishing you love, joy, health and happiness for the coming year. (Illustration)

Alphabets for Mr Spoqui

I have been meaning to do this Mr Spoqui challenge for weeks, but it has been busy. Freya and I started last night, but too late it has been won . . . however it is not the winning . . . but the taking part.
Good job for me as I had lost, right from the start to my daughter.

Tatsunori Kono

Tatsunori Kono is a Japanese illustrator, his works on canvas, paper and sketch books all seem to have a 'central parting'. I usually hate it when people fold their work but I have to say in this instance it adds an unusual feature.

Rebecca Puig

Rebecca Puig's work does make me very happy, she has a lovely use of colour and texture combined with a stylised primitivism which is simply stunning.

Yasmeen Ismail II

This animation by Yasmeen Ismail was commissioned for Amnesty international two years ago striving to highlight the fact that more people are killed by warfare than by diseases such as measles and dysentery. The film is called Measles one of 24 that Yasmeen has on Vimeo

Happy Christmas XXX

Work, work, work

Work finished today for two weeks. Now I am in the throws of trying to catch Christmas before it is too late!
I have been doing these little pictures (with sparkle) all week, but it has been too dark to photograph them. Here is a donkey, one of six that has already trotted off to say Happy Christmas.

Gina Adams

These paintings remind me of cutting snowflakes and the calm joy of pattern making.
Gina Adams thinks of her work as "maps as skins on top of topographies and spiritual identity" layers of map making, maps charting different layers of information.

Diana Scherer

Love these portraits of naked plants (without their pots) by Dutch photographer Diana Scherer. These pictures are from two series one 'Flower field' 2010-2011, where Diana grew plants in her tea cups, and the others are from 'Plants and Breeding' 2010-2011.

Mia Ohno II

Mia Ohno's seed pictures top: pea, middle: peanut, bottom: chickpea.

Mia Ohno I

Mia Ohno (Denali) is a Japanese illustrator who travels widely. She makes funny characters like the two here who look like raindrops waiting in a cloud. Mia also has many published works.

Aurelia Fronty II

Some more lovely works from the imagination of Aurelia Fronty. The bottom image I especially like, the lady pictured is like a shepherdess for words and thoughts scribbled in the note book.
