Guy BEN-NER Wild Boy

Stills from Guy Ben-ner's film: Wild Boy, where he enacts finding a wild child (his son). This film makes me want to install a hill in my house. I love the fact the family pets; rabbits, hamster and budgies are free in the space.

Guy BEN-NER

I cannot express the joy that this short film by Israeli artist Guy BEN-NER brings with its ingenuity, resourcefulness, incredible fun and love. Guy found himself home with his small children, and unable to work in a studio, he embarked on making his art, integrating his domestic life, including his children in his elaborate productions. An absolute joy!

"I build from simple things - a piece of paper a brush- but challenge myself to explore textures, colour and techniques. I find faces and expressions fascinating, and prefer painting people to landscapes and still-life." Scott Bergey

Paper dresses

I have been asked to make a 1960's style paper dress for a hair dressing photo shoot on Monday, I made a Mondrian style one yesterday like Yves Saint Larent's. I am enjoying it so much I have made another. This time it is an Easter Miffy Dress as I know my friend who requested it likes Miffy, here is my Easter Miffy. Might even make another . . .

Bert Teunissen

Here is a tiny selection of Bert Teunissen's Domestic Landscape series, where Bert has travelled most of Europe and Japan taking portraits of people in their domestic environments. These portraits are fascinating in terms of culture, belongings, interiors, furniture, style as well as being stunningly beautiful. Bert has been working on this project for the past 13 years and as a photographer he says that the work is all about light, for me they are all about people, but Bert is also documenting the demise of culture and tradition.

"I found that when local traditions disappear, most of their visible aspects are also lost. When a small farmer stops slaughtering, the open fireplace becomes redundant. Sausages and hams will be dried artificially and smoked in a factory losing their original flavour and appearance. And when a small farmer stops farming, the stables are converted into storage or living spaces, the stable doors are replaced by windows, the cement floor by parquet, the hayloft is altered into bedrooms, the kitchen moved to the former parlour, and slowly all rooms and spaces will have lost their original meaning and significance."

Travel the world by house hoping through the fantastic portfolio of Bert Teunissen.

Asafo Flags

Coastal Ghanan Fanta people had small military companies known as Asafo to which men and sometimes women belonged. Each company is identified by a particular name number and set of symbols . The flags are approximately a meter by a half meter and are beautifully appliqued with this information.
