I love these two works by Clare Johnson especially the textures on the stockinged legs, Clare exhibits with the 62 group of textile artists.

Another crazy day at work today, it has been quite a week. Today was brown paper challenge day for my NC Fashion students. They were challenged to create sea themed dresses using brown paper. It was great fun, full of energy and another great day Photographs.

". . . In Germany we have a problem . . .schools no longer teach in old handicraft techniques . . . "you can learn it from your grandmother" they say. But she no longer lives with the children in our modern society . . ."
Ursel Arndt took three years collecting all the flowers for this quilt, some of the flowers were made especially for it, some are over a hundred years old.
This week promises to be just as eventful and wild as last week, after the teaching, Friday is a Brown Paper Challenge for my Fashion students, and so my mind is on paper and paper cuts. I wanted to share Analu Prestes's paper cuts, Analu mixes folds with cuts to create three dimensional work with shadows, and sometimes she paints her work to increase it's contrast.

Yesterday we had a fantastically inspiring master class delivered by Professor Julian Roberts. The energy and enthusiasm of Julian's presentation was electrifying and contagious everyone had a fantastic time, it was really uplifting, more images here.
