Yu Yasutake

Here are some images from the portfolio of Japanese artist Yu Yasutake. Yu is comencing a textile course at Duperre art school in Paris this autumn. I love her collages, the quality of the line work and the additions of little bits of unexpected fabric, string etc.

Ivano Vitali

It is over a year since I first showed some of the amazing work of Italian artist Ivano Vitali but today's discovery of James Bassler reminded me of his incredible works. Here are the the subtle and wonderful hues of Ivano's spun paper balls, each spun from a different paper publication.

James Bassler

James Bassler has made these wonderful reinterpretations of brown paper bags woven from twisted brown paper and coloured yarns.

Tomi Ungerer

I had to find this image today by Tomi Ungerer, I am a lazy blogger at the moment, sorry, I have a home full of visitors and as of last night we now have a small black kitten, who has printed mud all over my bathroom three times in 'wall of death' style.

Fabric Pets in the post

Almost the last pets in the post, I still have one to send to Argentina. Here is Amy's Donkey, no stuffing was available so he is padded with hay and grass seed. Top image is Jane's hare, made from the smallest scraps of fabric. France was full of hares this year the fields all had ears, they were wonderful.

Inner Tube Beasties

Above: Delores Beetle, Below: Anne's Frog (my kids favourite as it has bugs to eat)
Above: Laura's Flea, Below: Deb's Flies
I had to be very resourceful at times this summer, so when there ended up being a couple of inner tubes lying around I picked them up. Amazingly they are great to work with, malleable fairly easy to sew and very forgiving.

Last snail entry

Sorry, I seem to have a snail thing going on, but this made me laugh when I came down in the morning to all the snails tentacles out hanging from the ceiling of their home (this was when they were getting ready for the big race).

Snail Song "Non, je ne regrette rien''

video

It is rough and ready, but it was so much fun to make and many thanks to Finlay for his help. Also it was very difficult to persuade everyone to sing even just one line of ''Non je ne regrette rien''. It is so nice to have such a funny reminder of lovely times, with everyones voices and laughter.

Snail Song

While we are on snails, I made a little goodbye to France film, this is me animating it, still some refinements to add, but I will try to share it soon.

Just Back

Just back and trying to make sense of life again and get ready to leap in the deep end with work, school and home etc. I also have new comedy finger, as I have discovered I am very allergic to wasps, and unfortunately got stung twice last week and ended up in hospital. Above is a picture from a wonderful evening of snail racing. Hello everyone xxx
