Paper works by Lisa Qualls combining text photo transfer, paper piercing drawing and print creating rich and powerful images.

Lisa Qualls II

In this installation 'Spirit Level' , Lisa Qualls incorporates items of clothing with transferred family photographs. Clothing is a powerful metaphor of humanity combined with the photographs this is both beautiful and disturbing.

Lisa Qualls

Lisa Qualls haunting works are writing on the skin, usually on a skin of clothing, these skirt forms were from her 2008 exhibition 'Surveillance Maritime'. The specific printed text is from Spanish and French news articles about Canary Island Boat people. Lisa's work is about the reoccurrance of issues surrounding people fleeing homelands and trying to repatriate themselves.

Hussein Chayalan's Airmail Dress with graphics by Michael Langkjaer and Rebecca Perry

Hussein Chayalan, made a papery material dress that could be folded into letter form and attached with stickers.
I love sending odd things through the post, a jar of jam and a par baked baguette probably the naughtiest. A painted t shirt with the recipients address painted on folded and posted and even a love letter on vegetables that I had in my shopping.
This wonderful dress by Hussein Chalayan really caught my eye, with graphics by Rebecca and Mike (see Comment), it was made in 1999.

Shona Young II

Shona Young's work with books is very interesting, this example 'Book Knitting' invokes someone shouting through a balaclava to me. I have to say that I love the way she has knitted for this book, probably just what it needed through the last winter.

Shona Young

Traveling Light by Shona Young, Shona is a young Scottish artist who works with paper, books and paint. I love the quality of this sculpture it is warm and soft and reminds me of the excitement of being packed and ready for a holiday.

Emily Martin

Emily Martin's (the Black Apple) work focuses mainly on dolls, her graphic figures having large heads and eyes. I like her more naturalistic, painterly works, this piece 'Cold Toes Warm Heart' is lovely.

Art Space Scotland

Here are some fabulous buttons created by an artist using Art Space Scotland who work with the same mix of people who I do. ASS have done what I had hoped to do this year (but everyone always wants to keep their art) and created a shop on Folksy to sell the work created at their workshops.

What to do with a crosswording Dad...

tattoo him... and then everyone else. x

Guy Taplin

Guy Taplin, what can I say except love! No, I can say more, I absolutely love his large flocks, but I could not get a clear enough image to share them with you, explore the web and you will see what I mean. Guy has an exhibition at Couroux and Couroux until the 14th of April.

Christopher Marvell

Christopher Marvell loves the foundry and sculpting, but he also makes very wonderful dry point etchings, where the humans body or thoughts are echoed by their zoomorphism or animal companions.
