Tom Hare, Woven Seeds at Kew

I must make it to Kew this year to see this exhibition, Kew is a delight anyway, but the Millennium Seed Bank exhibition makes it an unmissable pleasure this summer.
These giant seeds are the work of an extremely talented weaver called Tom Hare,

Electron Micrographs of seeds by Rob Kesseler

Above; Fireweed seed
Above: Wild Spider Flower Cleome Gynandra
Above: Sand Milkwort Polygala Arnaria
Above: Ragged Robin, Lychnis flos-cuculi

I have loved electronmicrographs a long time and when I saw these it was love at first sight, the colours, textures and shapes are so other worldly and fantastic.
These pictures by electron micrograph artist Rob Kesseler form part of the 'Banking on Life' exhibition at kew gardens until September 13th 2009

Bullfinches and Bluetits by Irina Troitskaya

More Rubbish And Poo and the wonderful work of Simon Whatley

Above: Giant Rubbish Project Dog Poo
Below: Slikachu's Little people in the city
It is distasteful and lots of people have turned there noses up at us today, but we were continuing the theme of this years roundabout project, giant rubbish, with dog poo.
We took it out and about for a photo opportunity, tried to get the police to set up a cordon like Simon Whatley's 'Little People In the City', but they wouldn't, so here are some of the results, more unfortunately are 'littering' my flickr.

Oh! the potatoes made me laugh

I have always loved drawing faces on fruit and veg but there is always someone who will take it a stage further. Thank you Ginou Choueiri, please check out her web page.
Ginou is a Lebanese artist living in Beirut she is a talented painter and here has turned her hand to potatoes, for as she says, there is a great similarity between us and this root vegetable. (found on wooster collective)

Kimberley Waterhouse's Precious Jewels

Kimberley Waterhouse likes to challenge the concepts of precious, desirable and beautiful by creating wonderful jewelry from found objects, I think her work is wonderful and I look forward to bringing you more of her creations.

Kirsty Nicholson

Wonderful jewelry by Kirsty Nicholson showing her work at the Dundee Degree Show 2009.

Jessica Ramm's Mad Machines

More kinetic sculptures from Jessica Ramm's degree show.

Perpetual Motion by Jessica Ramm

I Loved Jessica Ramm's installations at the Dundee Degree Show they reminded me of the work of Arthur Ganson whom I blogged a few weeks ago. The people attending this show were very compelled by Jessica's work, people love machines and the sound of tinkling glass was very attractive.

Richard Cormack's the Great Wandering Albatross

This is R. D. D. Cormack's plaster albatross skeleton. I think that Richard Cormack will be responsible for a surge of male entrants to Dundee Art College in approximately a decade, just because of the wonder on the faces of the young boys entering his show space and the joy of this suspended creation. http://rddcormack.blogspot.com/ http://rddcormack.carbonmade.com/

Fossils, Taxidermy and Art Graduates

I managed to get to Dundee Art College Degree Show at the Vision Building on Saturday. I hope to return for a second viewing as there is always so much to take in you feel like your eyes will pop out if you have to see anything else. The show runs until June 6th so if you get the chance have a look. My overall conclusion to this years show was Taxidermy, as this seemed to prevail across most departments, but don't let that put you off, there is a lot of treasure.

Ah found it, Horse Pebble Mosaic, Alhambra

Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain. A treasure of a place that I could visit again and again. In fact I would love to stay for at least a week to absorb all of its magic and get to know it very well.

Textual Paper Jewelry by Janna Syvanoja

Finish Interior Designer evolved into jeweler, Janna Syvanoja utilises the printed text on the papers she sculpts into jewelry. The stain of cut words is very beautiful and beguiling, with its meanings lost and restructured into tone. http://www.charonkransenarts.com/ janasyvanoja@msn.com
